The Orchid Station

I apologize about my recent lack of content...in light of the most recent episode I will make the following predictions/assertions...

1. Michael is in the Coffin
2. Jack, in the Season 3 finale, realizes that you now can die once you're off the Island...this motivates his desire to return

3. Jin is alive on the Island

I have attached a very cool link from YouTube...this is going to be a part of Season 4...it doesn't spoil anything, so enjoy...

Back to the 6

Originally we all guessed who the Oceanic 6 were...both Mike and I correctly guessed 4 of the revealed 6...but then, who are the 8 that Jack is telling a story about? And is Jin's death a cover-up of some sort...I would argue "yes" inasmuch that his tombstone says he died 9/22/04...

This gets back to the Season Premier when the 'lawyer' asks Hurley, "Are they still alive?" This must reference people outside the celebrity Oceanic 6...there is some cover-up going on (i.e. Ben/Sayid episode), but what exactly is it? Why?

This is likely a part of the time-continum issue, the ability to live longer and heal miracuously on the island...but beyond that?

I think this is the main question that Ji Yeon brings up...is this 4 different time periods (i.e. Frieght, Island, Flash-back, Flash-Forward) or is this happening all in 1 consistent timeline? (with the help of a Constant)

Definitely worth thinking about...I just hope we start getting more answers now and less questions...

1st post.

Nice...certainly a fun episode last week, one that has me pretty excited about what could be happening on the island. It seems that only the ones who were exposed to high levels of 11htz transmitted radiation will experience the conscious flashbacks, and only OFF the island? (or maybe they simultaneously experience them on the island, and the flashbacks are those moments?...I unfortunately have not seen seasons 1 & 2, so other than Desmond and Locke, who has been exposed).

What else do we know about Desmond? I remember the Penny back story that ended on the predicted bail out of the engagement. I remember him training at the Rose Bowl, and I remember he was the one hitting the button every 108 minutes. Forgive me, do we know how he was chosen for chamber duty? Sometime within the 8 year period, he was brought to the island.

As for Ben and the apparent pace of time differential off the island, perhaps Ben can find out more information on the oceanics when he leaves? He's gone for a "island day," is that two weeks off the island? It makes me think that all of the turmoil the Oceanic 6 are experiencing after their recovery, which has looked like a months/years narrative, could be mere days ON the island. (Sort of like dog years). When they come back, will they only be missed for weeks?

Could they be exposed to radiation off the island and have their conscious return to help?

Who's your constant?

Friends...first off, pardon my recent departure...in the name of agreeing not watch the past 2 episodes so I could attend a LOST party, I was unable to relay important updates to my thoughts on this show...considering that I've received almost no replies...I'm guessing y'all got by just fine...but, in case you're now needing someone to banter with...I'm here to do what I can...

I ask the question in the title for a reason...the notion of a 'constant' may, or may not be vital to the total understanding of LOST...I think you could make an argument that all of the Losties are in a time-consciousness warp of some sort...there are really no flash-backs or flash-forwards, but only alternate realities that are a part of the individuals consciousness...I don't quite subscribe to this...partly b/c of Sayed's response once he gets on the ship and Faraday's note that Radiation and Electromagnetism has 'side-effects'...only Desmond had experienced this...

But...thematically...we have always been exposed to 'The Eye'...Lostpedia does a great job of giving every instance of when an episode opens with 'An Eye'...we've seen Jack's, Locke's, Sun's, Claire's and maybe most notably...Jacob's...the eye is an invitation into that persons consciousness...

Looking more closely at Faraday's notes (all about slo-mo) one sees that he is tracking/graphing a relationship between Time and Space and inter-twining a relationship with 'Imaginary Time' and Space...This is what Desmond experienced throughout the most recent episode...but are they the only two?

What Season 1 does such a great job of is showing the connectedness of our Losties...are they each others Constants?

Season 1 is about the individual redemptive moments of each character...Season 2 and 3 illustrate that who a person was, is who a person is...does this somehow relate to the core of consciousness...don't we all deep down want opportunities for redemption? Don't we also experience the reality of our humanness?

Ultimately I think Desmond's experience is isolated to him and Faraday. However, I also hold that Ben would not be surprised, and knows how to manipulate this experience...think about Juliet's arrival to the Island, his ability to leave the Island, etc...

This episode may be the 'key' episode to the secrets of the Island...I have always taken Ben at face-value when he showed Locke Jacob's cabin and said "here it is, the secret to the Island"...so...how does Time-Consciousness relate to Jacob, to his call to Locke "Help Me" and to the Oceanic 6...

Traditional LOST...more answers...more questions...
